I would agree... but we must also remember that life insurance is one of the most used vehicles to pass along non-taxed funds to family... what happens when the death tax rolls down to lower and lower amounts?
"Say No to Drugs"... unless its marijuana and you are paying taxes on it... it's the only way that Illinois is going to fix its budget crisis...

Socialism = partial private ownership

As long as there are taxes you can argue it's socialism. What degree of socialism do you think optimal? Considering the waste, I say we minimize that shiznit.
On an up note, I've observed that we were losing $100 BILLION/year in Medicae fraud alone but now it appears to be a mere $52 billion. If I were MAGA Man I call AmericanExpress: "I want you to weed out the fraud in all government programs and we'll give you 10% of what you save us. It'll be fantastic." But, the Democrats would never approve. It's too capitalizzy. It's like they don't care about the opportunity loss.
Personally, I fear technology threatening ours, and many other, livelihoods. My real estate agent says they're feeling the impact of the interwebs and expect it to get worse for them. Some are talking about a universal income.
The number of people who are not tech savvy are diminishing. It will always be the case that, if you can't offer value, you'll enjoy the standard of living public assistance offers.
