But what about dogs. Maybe wear one of those suits that cops wear to train their police dogs. And also a bullet proof vest underneath. Then maybe a football helmet with reflective tape on it. Of course you would have to sew a pocket on that dog suit to hold your business cards.
I'm so glad that we just had daylight savings time so I can knock on doors again without it being dark by 5:30pm.
I don't REALLY like to cold door knock but I do it. When I went Indy in mid December I knocked on 10 homes right before Christmas. I had three that were receptive and I just closed one of them last night.
The reason it took so long is because of the holidays...they said let's wait until after the new year. The new year came and then they said...let's wait until we file our taxes in March. Well, I set the appointment and made the sale last night. It is not a big sale. Just two 10 year terms for right now. They are a young married couple that now has coverage and they will replace the term in about two years.
Cold knocking works!!! I use a list of new homeowers that I cross reference with the property appraisers office and the clerk of the courts office in order to get the mortgage price. By also checking the clerk of the court I can see if there are any marriage records on file for the new homeowners so I can get an age.
Once I do my research on my lists I head out. My simple stratight to the point approach is this..."Hello, Mr. so and so....My name is Chris with *^%$ insurance agency and I stopped by to congratulate you and your family on your new home. Would you allow me the opportunity to help protect you and your family with life insurance?"
This is the exact approach I use.
