Thanks so much to everyone for all your feedback. Weighing all that everyone has said, I've decided to stick with the E-64 for a while as a test for myself. It sounds like if I can't cut it with the E-64, then FE probably isn't for me. But I'm hoping I can do this!

I see the problem as jumping around too much. The successful agents I know do the same thing all the time. Whether it's DM leads or TM leads. And they get them from the same source every week. I used the E64 for 2 years. Nothing but the E64. I did sample some TM leads a couple of times because I was asked to but I still got the E64's. I would still be using the E64's if FEX hadn't gotten the RGI leads. They asked me to sample some of those and I liked them. Been using them pretty much exclusively since May. I do still get a few straggler E64's coming in but my primary source is the RGI. I can't tell a nickel's worth of difference between the E64 and the RGI lead. Only difference is the RGI leads come in on a schedule. Same county and same number of leads each week. That makes it easier for me to plan my schedule. Before the last 2+ years I used the EFES leads for 5 years. Never changed up. Same lead piece, same number per week for 5 years. If there's a secret, there is is. Whatever you do just do it consistently.
You need:
1. Lead cards that get you in the doors with reasonable expectations that you have someone that is somewhat interested in funeral/burial life insurance with no expectation that you are there to deliver a free gift of any type and hopefully is younger than 80 years old. You want to get these cards at a good price which can range from $20-$30 depending on where you live.
2. A good systematic method to set appointments from those lead cards.
3. A good way to present your plans in the home that encourages the prospect to take action with you today.
4. Good competitive companies to offer that accept most health conditions and would be hard for a second agent to come behind and beat. (It takes a variety of companies to really be competitive with this.)
5. A way of knowing which companies would be best for different applicants with different health histories.
Lean on your IMO if you are new to this. That's why they are making all the big bucks is to have a way to provide and teach you how to do this BEFORE you go broke trying it the wrong way.
Many agents have had success with E-64 leads. But like any lead, more have failed than succeeded. Everything has to work before any of it works.
The Life Insurance Leads are custom which are usually offered through your up line (not usually through lead vendors). They aren't magic but they are good. They are also priced by the lead rather than the drop which takes some of the risk out of it for the agent. You can read more about ours here: Getting Started with FE Sales
Good stuff Scott, exact conversation i had with an agent of yours today, he bought some tele leads and is kind of a newby. After i spoke with him a few minutes i told him to get with you asap and get on direct mail, i sent him the Travis Tubbs appt setting mp3's as well, all 10 of them, i never share those but figured you guys would not mind it going to one of your agents. Yep im a little nicer guy than i was 2 years ago lol
