KSKJ info needed

I've yet to see a REAL insurance company underwrite based on religious affiliation. Although I cant speak with certainty, Im pretty sure thats illegal.

No company that I am aware of underwrites based on religious affiliation. But most religious based fraternals require you to be of the same religious faith as them to join their fraternity. And they only sell insurance to their fraternity members.

If you feel that way you should challenge it. I'm pretty sure they were all formed as a result of discrimination against them. Maybe it's time they should open their membership to everyone. Knights of Columbus still only allows Catholics to join. Many fraternals only allow Slovakian Catholics. KSKJ was originally only for Polish Catholics but has opened it up to all Christians. I know how you feel. I was declined by a credit union once because I was not related to a teacher. I wanted those sweet mortgage rates too but couldn't qualify for their membership. USAA requires military service even though they have no affialiation at all with the US military or government. There are colleges that require you to be black to get in. AARP requires that you are age 50 or older to join. Some Christian health groups (I don't even know if they are legally insurance) require that you actually GO to CHURCH WEEKLY to be covered. I had and agent/member of one explain to me today that if you have your health coverage through one of those and they call your church and your minister doesn't know you or says you are not active you will be canceled and lose your coverage. There are a lot of things that don't work the way you may want them to.

Maybe it's time that no fraternal group or organization should restrict membership by race, religion, age, ethnicity, employment, or any other qualifier. If you feel strongly about that, maybe you can be the change that makes it happen.

Hope that never happens..That would be a loss of one more freedom that the founding fathers prized. There is such a thing as freedom of association... Perhaps they should make their insurance only available to actual fraternal members instead of selling them insurance with fraternal enrollment as a 'By the way" event..

I would agree with this. Because right now, they are operating as an insurance company with a fraternal, not a fraternal with an insurance company.

I dont care about the fraternal issue, as much as I care about the religious discrimination by a number of fraternals.
Private organizations are allowed to discriminate as they should be.. A fraternal is little more than a club (fraternity) and clubs are allowed to determine their membership requirement. But they should not be able to use the "benefits" of membership to induce the purchase of insurance..
