This one of the painful ironies about BLM. Between this, violent crime, and drug dealing, the biggest threat to African Americans, unfortunately, is African Americans.

Blacks make up about 13.5% of the population. If they make up 36% of abortions, then that means they get disproportionately more abortions. My math works out they are getting nearly 3 times as many abortions.

I don't deny those facts.. What I was saying that it does not automatically mean they would have reversed the course of the recent elections. BTW, they aren't getting 3 times as many abortions but their abortion rate is 3 times higher..

Ahh, gotcha. Yes, agreed. Even if their population was higher, they still have very very low voter turnout, unfortunately.

Well, as a total percentage, if there are nearly 3 times as many abortions per every African American, doesn't that men they are getting 3 times as many abortions? Or maybe I'm missing something from the big picture?

Your point on voter turn out was correct years ago. Not so much today. And even back then it was not very low. It was just lower than whites for example- particularly regarding presidential elections.

@shonceman - the problem with those numbers is it excludes nearly half of the country. It would be interesting to see where those numbers would stand if all states were included.

If you look at W.V. for example, whites make up the lion's share of abortions while blacks make up a minimal amount. But I believe thats due to the amount of whites that live there.

I wonder, if states like Maine or New Hampshire were included would the stats be closer overall?

Census.gov shows its pretty much even now. It was not low in the past. It was just lower depending on the type of election

Yeah, you're right. Interesting. It was a bit lower in the past, but not much, now almost the same. Hispanics lag a bit though.
