Cockroach Infestation -- The Joys of FE Sales

there are easier and less disgusting and not to mention disturbing ways to earn a living. Yall know that right? Or are u fellas all masochists?

Please, do tell how. Medicare only???

That would be a great demographic to work. It is not the FE market. Even in Ca. I have a friend that does FE there and does almost $200,000 per year ap. He sends me pictures every now and then of his prospects homes or areas where he is working that day. They look exactly like the one work. Only the weather is better!:yes:

He recently sent me a picture of a note the guy had nailed, that's right "nailed" to the door to the "insuranc man" saying he couldn't keep the appointment. I sent him one of mine that had an eviction notice on the door when I got there.

That is bare bones truth of the FE market. If people don;t know that going in and are willing to accept that as business as normal they will not make it as an FE agent.

I hear you. When I started I was the only agent that would run the North Oakland and Richmond areas. I still get referrals there. And I still get a few really poor homes. But not as many as you guys. Then again as I have mentioned before I am not a FE only agent. If I was a new agent I would look at what the big dog FE agents are doing and do that.

The three FEs I submitted this morning 1) a RN in San Jose, CA. 2) a secretary near Spark, NV. 3) a Cambodian refuge in Long Beach. She fits your demographic. She only makes about $11,000 a year. Rents in her poor area are north of $1,000 for a two bedroom apartment. Slum lord style. But the policy owners are at about $70,000. The apps I mailed today are to a couple Church retires that are at about $35,000. California is a different market. But it also really depends on the part of California. Now these are all current clients or referrals so they did not come from direct mailings.

There are tons of people that made pretty good money during their working years....

That may be the truth? But those people are not the ones sending in the reply cards.

The FE market, for the most part, are people that are world class procrastinators. They didn't get to be 65 to 75 years old and not have their funerals taken care of because they have been good with their money or good planners. We don't service the Dave Ramseyites.

They do not have an insurance agent. They certainly do not have a financial planner or even know what one is. They are distrusting of "the man", but they do have some sense of responsibility to not leave a terrible burden on their family, {well that's the ones that buy}. There are many out there that don't give a rat's ass about what happens upon thier demise. Those people also send in reply cards and those are the 'agent killers" out there.

They say that 90% of agents fail in their first year and leave the business. I bet that number is higher among the ones that get into FE?

You are describing the same people I am talking about. They didn't plan, put off buying insurance and didn't save. Blue collar workers that made a nice livable income but now the only income they have is social security. Many have a modest home paid for but that is really their only asset. Don't know if they send in reply cards because I have always worked referrals and canvasing. They definitely buy FE and once they but it, they keep it.

They are not among the 1% sending in reply cards. Yeah, you will get one of those every now and then, but not to where you can count on it.

It sound like he was just talking to LH, sales recruits. i don;t think he works for LH. TD you have to figure out the way you want to go... JD has a lot of credibility, on this forum, most of us stop what we are doing and listen to him... I am sure Alan Benedicts way of selling is also good.

phone sales. While it may not be for everyone, some people truly like to drive around town in 85° weather with 90% humidity, with sweat dripping down their back waiting for all the retards in Florida to learn how to work the gas and brake pedal.

Yeah, it sounds like an LH pep session. What he is describing is almost word for word the LH model.

His math is off, too. he kept calling leads $100 nuggets and saying he knew that 10 leads was $3000. Sounds like a typical recruiter, except that he actually does do personal production.

Supposedly, Benedict writes 250 to 300 policies per year in that market. Says he doesn't work any government subsidized housing.

He also will not tell you how much he spends on leads. I could stay out of those too if I had an unlimited budget for leads and could pick and chose.

LH did not use an income filter when I used their leads. When he uses an income filter he is using his own self designed mailer.

EFES does not filter for income on ther mailers. I do know of Alan Benedict and I know he says he works about 50 leads per week and doorknocks them all.

Ok I was worried what I had learned all this time about income fitlers wasnt true cause I listen & even have written several things JD has posted here down....but I just spoke to Shannon at MIGWarriors, 1 of EFES top agency's and he told me the default search criteria is 57-79yrs old & 0-$50k income. He also said they have the ability to change it now if you want, so that's pretty close to what I said....I guess they don't filter out ppl below 15k as I thought!

Alan B. says 15-50k (for Calif), so maybe that's where I got that from, and I think I read an article or a post here saying not to go after the really poor class cause they wont pay after a month or so. But I'll stick to the EFES default, they know better then me!!

Just wanted to clear that up JD, thats what he told me!
