I doorknocked one early last week while they were cutting the grass and piddling around in the garage.
I just asked them for an appointment later that week.
Don't let the time of day, the size of the house, or other such stuff build a case for you not to call on them. I know that I have to constantly remind myself not to be discouraged from not making calls for whatever reason, as it's a weakness for myself.
I will ask for the appointment right then if they have the time since I am their but will book for later in the week..
To the OP its as simple as I was in the area on another appointment xxxxx and take it from thier.
I second that. In fact I door knock as my first attempt and call on the phone if they aren't there. Its a whole lot easier for them to tell me jump in a lake over the phone than when I show up with a smile on my face. I try not to set anything more than 1 day out because the likelihood of a no show is higher the further out you set the appt.
I also call first, then DK. Depending upon the area I'm in, I will either carry my bag with me, or, in a more affluent area, just the lead card. When I first started out, I was surprised at how many people would let me in the door. When get into an area, I *67, and hand up when someone answers. The first one that answered gets the first visit. When I ran out of answers, I DK the rest, and leave delivery notices if they aren't home. My return calls from the notices is at least 80%.
I am in NC and I am a White Female. Do you think that it will be ok for me to DK first before calling. I am new to this business and I am used to selling P & C insurnce over the phone.I second that.
