FE Telesales

Here is a tip as we are in a telesales thread.

Never say routing number or account number. This will lead people to use their logic to decide what numbers they believe are the Routing and/or acct number.

You will never have errors if you ask them to read you all the numbers on the bottom of the check starting from the left. Then have them read you the check number.

There is nothing worse than getting an email that says invalid account (which means the account number is wrong)

"Then have them read you the check number."

Since when do you need the check number? Just ask for the 9 numbers on the bottom left and then the second set of numbers to the right of those 9 numbers.

If you ask for the check number then you will know if they included that number in the"second set" of numbers. After all, the account number is no set number of digits and a lot of folks once they start reading off the number just keep going.

You do this to avoid errors. And I apologize for omitting a few words. I should be "what is the check number at the top right.

You ask for the the check number because its common for a lot of banks to have the account number followed directly by the check number. You ask for the check number and if that number appears at the end of the numbers they read you, then you know its not part of the account number. Its quite common that banks do this too.

you don't say 9 numbers or anything else because again, that would employ them to use their logic to decide what they think you are asking for. If you merely say "all the numbers on the bottom of the check starting from the left, you can 100% determine the correct routing and account number.

Ive been doing telesales for years and I can tell you from vast personal experience that if you ask for 9 numbers or account numbers etc, you will eventually have errors. It wont happen a ton, but why risk even one app when you can 100% identify the correct numbers by using this process.

That is a good idea. I do it a little different but like your way better. I ask for routing, then account, then check number. I ask for the check number to see if they included it in the account number. I still get someone ever now and then that cannot read the numbers because the symbols mess them up. I actually had to have one guy mail me a voided check.

Man I cant say anyone has ever mailed me check. That is sweet. I make a point of telling people to ignore any symbols. I specifically tell them to focus on numbers and only numbers. As long as they read me every number they see on the bottom along with the check number at the top right, I can get it 100%.

However, if they cant see or something else causes me to doubt their ability to read correctly, there are other ways to deal with that. But for those who can see well enough to read numbers, this method has proven 100% for me for a very long time now.

The second set of numbers is the account number. I don't further confuse them by asking what the 3rd set/check number is. I've been lucky I guess and have never had wrong numbers given to me. I do like GymGuy's way though.

Dig any thoughts on that question RE: day one coverage?
Also, what kind of commission and CB policy is on NGL?

I'm not sure what you're asking?

I'm just picking all this up but yes to Josh....you read the info to UW. We ask them to get a check or statement. Then we say:

1. What is the name of your bank please.

2. How does your name read exactly as it appears on your account

3. On the bottom left hand corner of your check...please read me the first 9 digits. This is your routing #.

4. Now please read the next set of digits.

5. What is the check number you are using here please.
(The reason we ask that is to make sure they did not include it in the acct number. Better safe then sorry)

When we are done with every sale, we call the bank and verify the account. 90% of them get done. Credit Unions are a pain.

We either verify if funds are available or if the account is valid. Banks will almost always do one or the other. Regardless of when we are drafting the account, if we verify funds available and they say "no they are not"...at least you know the account is valid. If not...you call them back ASAP while they are still hot for the plan.

Sometimes we have to call the bank with the customer on the line.
