I Failed At Door Knocking

Might want to try and take the pressure off a bit. Don't start out asking for an appointment or an invite in. That's a lot of pressure with the fear of rejection. Just knock and introduce yourself. ...clip...
Point being if you start out without asking for anything it wouldn't be as scary and you will get comfortable very quickly and can them expand on your pitch.

I have done a little bit of cold knocking for final expense. I end up using this approach more than not. Hi, I'm in the area today introducing myself and helping folks with there final expense plans. I haven't hit enough doors to make a difference, but if they show the least bit of interest I go for it and ask to come in. I've gotten a few leads from it, but again I haven't knocked any large number of doors.

Good luck, let us know how it goes next time.

How are you following up the leads?

I have more trouble door knocking clean middle-class housing versus run-down shacks and trailers.

Same here. I heard somewhere on here that the "longer the driveway the worse luck you'll have".

Sooo....I switched to house boats in the harbors. :D

How are you following up the leads?

I haven been calling on the phone with, 'based on our conversation your rate would be somewhere between $X and $Y.' I would like to come by and see exactly what you qualify for and give you an exact price.
Not a lot of luck with that.... I have one that said come back on the 5th of next month, so we'll see how that goes.

Not surprising that hasn't been successful, for a couple of reasons...

"I'd like"? Nobody cares what you'd like, except you. The prospect cares only about what they'd like.

It sounds like you've done nothing to help the prospect decide they have a problem, or established the value of the solution. Therefore the price has no context. It's all cost! Once you give it to them, they don't need you any more. Think of the health club model - they'd rather hang up on you than give the price over the phone.

When you asked them what will be different on the 5th of next month, what did they say? That's a polite "no".

You need some sales training.

Very valid points. I appreciate your assessment. I'll take what you've said, and change my approach.

try leveraging the use of social media. find out everyone an that local area. twitter. or fb. and just leverage your tools you have. social media is 2000x more easier to uses. and the leads there are super quality

Yeah, that's the ticket!! FE prospects are all over facebook and twitter.:D

Why did he want tyou to come back on the 5th? Is that when he will get paid? If so gthen go ahead and write it up and set the first draft for the 5th of next month.

If he's not willing to do that then there is another objection. Going back on the 5th of next month will only expose this other objection.

Let me go out on a limb here...social media is worthless in the final expense market. My guess is that most of the prospects couldn't spell computer - if you spotted them the C, O, M...and P.
