Lead Mailers Misleading?

Only until you get complaints through the BBB.

----------

I need to see an example of where they market them self as a watchdog with clout and authority. I haven't seen it.

I've seen the TV newsertainment shows on them. Same as the annuity sellers, funeral home scammers, bank frauders, restaurants serving bogus things, etc. those shows can always find odd ball cases and report like they are the norm.

Bottom line, would you rather your customers try to resolve their problems on google or through the BBB?

Like I said the BBB is like AARP. Some seniors think AARP is their friend but we know the truth. There is nothing wrong in joining if you see a benefit. My problem with BBB is they are pretty hard sell and they do almost nothing despite what the consumer thinks. A person is absolutely wasting their time to complain to the BBB. That is my opinion. That is something JD and I agree on, that and KY basketball.

I was under the impression that our business (selling life) is all about the consumers, not us as sales people. It is the consumers/prospects concept that matters, not yours or mine. And an overwhelming majority of consumers/prospects have a good impression of the BBB. End of story.

I don't believe that crap. You are just pushing the BBB. Why is that?

I have personally been shaken down by the bbb twice. Every time they call one of my businesses they go into a hard core sales presentation to get us to pay the fee.

I have come to the conclusion that pretty much and consumer protection or rating agency is a scam.

So, you are more important than your customers? Be careful, you might run out of customers. I simply responded to this derailed thread which was originally about lead mailers, not the BBB. I was not the one who bought up the BBB.

It is amazing that there are so many "seasoned" life agents here who only see their concept and not the customers concept.

I totally understand your point of view. Why are they so successful? Why have they survived if they are so underhanded? Because consumers believe in them. Perception is reality.

I'm not more important than my customers. I'm calling BS on your claim of how important everyone thinks the BBB is.

I have face to face meetings with over 500 prospects a year and the BBB has come up twice. In both cases I told the people that I would not pay the BBB to give me a good rating. Both of those people are clients of mine now.

People know about BS. Everyone has been taken in by some such organization in their lifetime.

Since you pretend to know me and my business I will pretend to know your's. You spend too much time worrying about non entities like the BBB to have a successful business.

Who cares why they are successful. Tons of companies are successful who deceive their customers. You probably trust the JD power rankings as well.

Consumers are more savvy than ever before, especially with the world wide web available. You will never overcome a bad rating with the BBB if it is something that a potential customer does research on. Since I am a 3rd generation agent and not some start-up, we do things a little differently. To each his own.

It has been my experience that a lot of consumers have been burned by shister life agents before, just looking for a quick buck. I do everything I can to show my potential customers that I am legit. BBB is just one of the ways. As previously said, it is a small price to pay.

I know 3 top rated insurance companies that bend over backwards to get good ratings from JD Power. Ask them why they do it, not me! Again, these are companies with billions of dollars on the balance sheet. Why would they care about JD Power? Because their customers do.

I am really surprised that a lot of people just do not get it... it is about the customer, not you or your business.

I am not refuting that consumers don't use the rating agencies and make their decisions based on what it is stated. I am saying that that it is bullsh*t. It nothing more than a modern day good ol boy network. You have to pay to play.

What the companies represent and what the companies actually do is a different argument.

Totally agree. I guess I just choose to play the game.
