Quality/Experiences of Wellcare PDPs

Agent Experience: Horrible
Medicare keeps fining them for poor customer service on MAPD plans
The company has multiple names, so that's a red flag
Their ACA product is horrible and they do screwy things with the network and how they handle the lack of specialists to keep them out of trouble with TDI
Medicaid Experience (Bonus kids were adopted out of Foster): Horrible

What else do you want to know?

I'm telling people about it, with the caveat of "don't yell at me for their poor customer service"

I called Wellcare in Sept. I couldn’t believe how quickly someone picked up and were American. Admittedly, I hadn’t called them in 3 years and refused to.
I told the rep that they have come a long way

(Caveat, not an agent.)

My experience this year with them (value script) has been good. But it is also quite limited.

The enrollment last fall (via plan finder) went very smoothly. I don't remember how long it took for cards and paperwork but it was much faster than what I expected after reading threads here.

My use this year has mostly been T1 and T2 meds. That has worked well. I have one T3 med which I suppose will be a bit pricey if I need to get a refill on that in 2024.

The 2023 ANOC for 2024 came in a very timely manner.

Within that low end need framework, my experience this year has been positive.

And again, the very limited experience of one person.

I received my Wellcare 2024 PDP ID Card mailing on Dec 06.

Their RFI's are a lot easier to handle this AEP. They don't love insulin dependent diabetics though.

I found a “gimmick” with the formulary between the Classic ($26) and the 50 cent Value Script. Two of the drugs were: rosuvaststin and telmisartan. The VS had them as cheap T1, while the Classic had them as T3!!
I thought that it was a Sunfire mistake, but turned out to be the real formulary. Maybe by shifting the exaggerated costs to the Classic formulary, it makes it possible to offer a 50 cent plan?

I thought the classic plan was only for LIS

I don’t think that’s ONLY for LIS. If a person is willing to pay $26/mo, I don’t see why they can’t. The Classic actually came out with less costs than Value Script. I used Sunfire and then verified against the carrier website.

I shouldn’t have said only. But I think I remember during their training they said this plan is best for those with LIS
