Somebody CLARIFY This! SOCAL MARKET

Going to Reno on Thursday, Atlanta and Ocala, Fl in April, and then Vegas in May.

I can't go to Vegas for March Madness. I do have to work sometime.

Rick

U work? I thought u just take login to the forum all day & post sarcastic comments, then take a few vacations from posting every month...No?

Hey, do u do med supp or just LTC? Im interested in getting in on med supps, or at least seeing what it takes to do & then decide.

Yes, I do Med Supps and MA. Not as much LTC as I'd like. It's a pretty specialized market.

Ok all, I've read all of your 43 posts. Some people think I'm angry and irritated, that may be true, just wanted information on how FE sells in Southern California how and where so I don't blindly go shelling out more than I already have for mailings which I did not get a good response from. Some people that work California, have indirectly answered my question, others have engaged in a subforum that has nothing to do with my original post, whatever, you're all kind of a rowdy tailgate, crush that beercan across my forehead bunch, I guess that's to be expected.

I have one question here Matt. From the beginning of this thread until now you have mentioned southern California a couple of times. What is making you think the problem is geography related?

Uh Matt,

On the one hand I'll grant you this bunch can come down on folks fast and hard - especially new guys like us.

On the other hand I'll stand by my post and I don't for a moment, gentle reader, think that I "crushed a beer can across your forehead".

Several excellent suggestions were offered you, the most important was to ask for another ride-along.

As many have pointed out one way or another, it's not "the market" per se. Yes, you can hit some rough spots and those can be discouraging. But the key here is working the numbers and honing your presentation.

I remember reading about one fellow who spent days learning his 22 page presentation by heart. He spent 16 hours his first day setting and working seven appointments. He came home empty handed. Was he discouraged? Oh yeah. But he went back again and again. Eventually he sold over $1 billion of insurance in one year. Yes, that was Joe Gandolfo. (By the way he earned $36,000 in commissions his first year - that was in 1960 dollars.)

With all that said, the presentation and the numbers will all work against you if your head and heart are not in the right place. This I can attest to you from experience.

Andy

P.S. One more suggestion... make sure that beer can is empty before crushing it against your head.

AgentGuy I did a ride along already and saw how its done. I state again, this is not rocket science. If you doorknock it, if they want it, or are on the fence about it, you will sell it. If they out and out, don't want it, you are wasting your time. Obviously there are always objections to overcome and as an articulate person with prior sales experience I have no problem doing this. I am just not getting meaningful responses in this area for this product.

Everything you're saying spells out exactly what your problem is.

Everyone is telling you what may be wrong but you're not listening? From what I see its simple.

1. Your mind set
2. You def need a lot more training
2a. I'm not sure if you're willing to really give in to hard core training? I'm getting the impression that you think this IS that simple and that the problem isn't you? You need months with a trainer. Weekly ride alongs. Daily communication. I'm willing to bet that's NOT happening.
3. Try another lead source. Who says your leads are "premium"? There is no such thing.

I'm sure your entire presentation is way off. If you want, pm me with your email and I will send you my sales outline. It's great for new agents. But you need to be open to learning and applying if you're going to make this work. "Where" you're working has absolutely nothing to do with it. That drives me NUTS when an agent thinks that way.

LA is about 500 sq miles. About 4,000,000 souls. Some of the richest and poorest in the nation. Dense populations of each. In my experience higher premiums than less urban areas.

They are just giving you a friendly, kick in the behind. Trying to get you to wake up. Don't call the leads, go door knock them!. You need to get face to face with dozens of client. And at times, it is harder than rocket science!

If you did not get a good response, I'd start looking there. What were your demographics and areas?

you're all kind of a rowdy tailgate, crush that beer can across my forehead bunch, I guess that's to be expected.

Much like the ideal final expense prospect!
