Terminated?!

To answer some of the questions. First and foremost why didn't I have health insurance. I have been to the Doctor four times in over ten years. Once for a physical, once for hives, once for a prescription to help me deal with my teenage son, and once to help me deal with a hot lady! LOL My kids have not seen me have a COLD in their lifetime > Not kidding. Kidney stones in the year 2000. So all in all, I UNWISELY did not purchase health insurance as I thought I was invincible! Just a mean ass Hungarian whose only fear was ex-wives!

I am an ICA for UHC. I love the business and have built up a very nice residual income in a short period of time. Very thankful for that and want to continue doing so. Hard work has paid off and thanks to my treatments and moderate pain management I am ready willing and able to continue to work hard.

Found out yesterday that the big flag that probably blew up my background check was the 37,000 dollar hospital bill for 6 days in the hospital. Was told that over 25,000 in bills is the red line. I am putting together a payback plan with a third party debt arbitration company that will get everyone paid back over the next four years.

I am hoping that this will suffice to UHC to show my sincerity to pay my bills and to continue producing for them.

Will be contacting some of you privately for more advice.

I sincerely appreciate all the feedback and good thoughts from the good people on this forum. Stay healthy!

Re the Health Insurance Comments, Top Producer etc.

I just realized, that if EVERY middle aged man who could AFFORD health insurance and life insurance had it in place,

Most of the people on this forum would be UNEMPLOYED!

:D
Now go sell something!

Four years ago, I was suddenly (within hours) stricken with paralysis caused by excruciating pain from the waist down.

Kind of long story short, I laid in bed for 9 hours waiting for hubby to get home from work... didn't have a phone by the bed...:( After he got home, I finally relented after a couple of hours and told him to call an ambulance. .

The diagnosis was Sepsis MRSA....a serious infection that settled in my lower back, causing the spinal cord to be pushed into the spinal column, thus causing the paralysis. After 3 weeks in the hospital, back surgery to aspirate the infection, this literally took my spirit (mentally/physically) away and I could not work as an insurance agent for one year while recuperating. No, I didn't have any of the insurance products to protect my income....(makes a good story now, tho!) but I had health insurance to help pay the $175K bill.

I have no idea how I contracted MRSA, but the staph germ is every where so anyone can come into contact with it and experience this as well.

Then due to the poor economy, my husband, who is a commercial electrician, was laid off for 8 months before finding a new job.

After a couple of years trying to survive with our little income, depleting our retirement accounts, getting into debt, we made the decision to file BK 13 last November. It was our only option to start over again.

Now, I too, am finding myself being denied appointments with 3 insurance companies so far: Markel, Seven Corners Travel Ins, and just now UHC to offer MA products. I do have the support of the local sales manager for UHC and a large broker agency that does tons of MA business for UHC. They recommend that I appeal the denial with letters from my attorney and letters from my doctor. I just wonder if it is worth it to try and appeal? I am new to the MA market, but I would get superb training from these two individuals and know I could do well. But do I want to "beg" UHC to accept me?

Oh, I have received appointments from other companies since all this, so it is a select few that will deny.

Sin in this case hotshot equates to health insurance... i have health insurance... therefore i have no sin under this example.. back to the trees

My point was and I am sure you know it, was why kick the guy when he is down. Don't you think he has asked himself that a thousand times or 37,000 times in this case. Now (as you say) its back to the trees Hotshot.................:twitchy:

Attilla Hang in there no one is perfect but boy could you use this example to sell health insurance to others hope you have the chance

Good luck, they denied me last year, but told me if I had some arrangements worked out on paying back my debts they would reconsider. I have been told the problem is AARP rather than United, as I still have my other Major med contracts active with them.A great paper trail and multiple letters of explanation go a long way, as well as a great broker agency to push really hard. I am appealing their turn down this year based on what they told me last year since my situation has improved.

@ Whitecatz,
An active Chapter 13 is in my opinion and most creditors opinion, worse than a Chapter 7. No one knows if you will complete your Chapter 13 or if you resort to Chapter 7. A CH 13 can drag on for years and years.
I am not a lawyer but I would ask why you are doing a Chapter 13 vs a Chapter 7 which will get the clock started asap after its Discharge. Lawyers make a lot of money on CH 13's and push them a lot. Get a second opinion or two!

Wishing you all the best.
