Door Knockers

In my experience, I have found that the close ratio tends to be a good deal better when setting appointments ahead of time. There have been many weeks where there was no luck on the phone and I had no option but to make it work, but it is slightly more time consuming.

We have been lucky to get half of the leads into appointments lately.

However, after we burn the leads that aren't interested over the phone, I am left with people who never pick up the phone, and people without contact information listed, and I go see them in person.

As of late, I am closing around 60% to 75% of the door knocks I am doing.

But with all that said, maybe it's the Monkey Dust. But out of all the agents I've talked to that have lasted longer than 6 months, all do a combination of door knocking and phone-based appointment setting. Very few exclusively set appointments 99% of the time over the phone.

Is that closing 70-75% who answer the door or who let you in? Would you be so kind to share what you say to get in that helps you with that great conversion rate?

What's the most "effective" way to find prospects in FE? Why is telephone cold calling ineffective in your opinion/experience?

Don't listen to him. I did my own cold calling when I first started. Best ROI I ever had. I just hated doing it.

I cold called for 12 hours one week and got around 25 leads. Most of the leads thought I was mailing them something and I would just DK them.

From the 25 leads, I sold $3K in AP.

Cost was $100 for the dialer (for the whole month) and the time it took me to make the calls.

Then I did TM leads for the next 4 months.

But almost everyone says you can't e successful using TM leads or cold calling.

As someone else said, if you think you can't, you're right. If you think you can, you're right.

Does anyone have any clever ideas of how to get past the young teen that answers the door?

"Hey, get your mom for me." Take control.

It's only this good because I am doorknocking people who:

1) Don't pick up the phone after repeated calls,
2) Literally JUST took a policy out, and
3) Phone number listed doesn't work.

It can be safe to say that if they aren't picking the phone up for me, they aren't picking the phone up for anyone, and thus are a much higher-odds close for the person who arrives unannounced.

If I was door knocking leads without making any attempts at setting appointments via the phone, then my ratios would be lower.

Delivered a policy yesterday. Door knocked three neighbors. Got one sale and one appointment for next week

Teens answering the door.

In calm voice, "Go get your parents, tell them it's an emergency."

Parents come quickly to door, "my son said there's a man with an emergency!?!?"

Me, "Oh kids, heh, I'm the MAN-FROM-THE-AGENCY. I have a few kids myself, blah blah blah." YOUR IN

I don't know man. Here in rural Tennessee about a third of my leads have grand kids living with them. The parents are seriously jacked up on meth which is rampant here.

Wear one of these and the kids will not come to the door. Of course gran'maw, Gran'paw and uncle Buck probably won't either.
