I would only recommend this type of prospecting to my competition. Sounds like "agent killer" activity (stolen from Tubbs). I thought it was a little strange that the FMO guy wanted me to train the guy after telling me how great he was doing..........Lol...

Guess I am swimming against the stream. It is an idea that can and has been profitable for agents, especially those that work small town markets.. Not that you will necessarily get business at the time of the seminar but it gets you in front of people and will help establish you as the go to agent for the market you are working. Years ago, I had a friend that did this type of "prospecting" along with writing a column for the local newspaper and doing a weekly radio program. Everybody in the community "knew" him and considered him as "the expert" in the senior market. When you came up against him in a competitive situation, it was really tough to wrestle the business away from him.
Here is my caveat to this type of marketing. If your going to talk to a group of people like this in a closed ended community center, you better bring the best products available that is out there in the market. Why? Well because your run the risk of loosing all the business that you worked hard for because one of those friends finds out your rates and coverage is way below par with other companies, its going to spread like wild fire in the center.
You will not only loose credibility, but may not be able to get any sales out of the whole center for a long long time. The story will carry very quickly. Trust me, gossip in these centers is the same as watching your daily soap opera....and bring some cookies!!!

I was thinking Ice cream.. we own a Sonic , lol! But yeah it may be better to bring cookies with my daughter, she is a cutey and have them fill out a survey. I know , I know I am a newby and I am doing mailers AND buying leads too.

(min 20 characters)I was more referencing to the fact you are selling LH. LH is the highest priced product out there. If I even smell a hint of LH crack I am going to find it and nail the person that is selling it by replacing the policies.. (not to be an A#ss or anything)
